At the beginning of INVASION of the MER-MEN, Linda Danvers lies on a blue beach mat, scantily clad in a red bikini, saying, "Thanks, Johnny, it's been a real fun day--no work and no Nasty!"
Nowadays we'd say: how can it've been a fun day when there's been no Nasty?
But those were more innocent times of course, when it was implicit not only Linda Danvers but even Lois Lane was a virgin (saving herself for the day she finally married Superman).
These days, though, we're more likely to find Linda and Lois ripping each other's clothes off, saying, "Whose turn is it to wear the strap on?"
In this case, "Nasty" is a nickname for Nasthalthia, who was a blood relative of Lex Luthor.
According to DC Wikipedia: "Nasthalthia Luthor was the cousin of criminal mastermind, Lex Luthor. She was at first a friend, but later, an enemy of Supergirl. She is one of the few to ever discover Supergirl's secret identity."
However, the entry goes on to say "This version of Nasthalthia Luthor (Earth-One), including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the Multiverse in the 1985-86 Crisis on Infinite Earths limited series and is now considered apocryphal."

So you see, comics really have got better!
